PSY 4411 - Seminar in Counseling Psychology

Credits: 4
This advanced seminar course examines the contemporary theories, research, and application of counseling psychology.  Some topics to be covered include:  ethical and legal issues, case conceptualization, treatment planning, crisis intervention, efficacy of therapeuutic treatment approaches, group counseling, and marriage/family counseling.  Special emphasis will be placed upon counseling intervention techniques and multicultural counseling competencies.  Laboratories will focus on practical skill development, innovative counseling techniques, trends in applied research, and ongoing professional discussion. Prerequisite(s): PSY 2301, PSY 3306 or 3329, and at least 12 hours in psychology; Major Status
