Political Science with a Public Administration Concentration

Students working toward a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in political science (public administration concentration) must complete 42 semester hours of coursework in this area. These courses must include American Government, State and Local Government, Writing & Research in Political Science I, Introduction to Public Administration, Public Management Theory, Urban Politics, International Relations or Comparative Government, Public Policy, Public Personnel, Civil Rights or Black Political Thought, and Constitutional Law.

In support of the major area, students are also required to complete three semester hours of coursework in each of the following areas: World Civilization I, American history, economics, philosophy, logic, psychology, sociology, and statistics. Students must complete three semester hours in any computer science-related course.

A minor outside the area of political science is required. Students cannot have a double major in public administration concentration and political science.

* To graduate, each student must have at least 40 hours of upper division coursework.

Candidates for graduation with a Psychology degree are required to participate in program assessment activities. Psychology majors are required to select a minor from another area.
