Nurse Educator Certificate

Upon completing the Certificate Program, students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the theory and practice of curriculum development as a group process, synthesizing basic principles of curriculum in nursing education.
  2. Analyze forces and issues that affect curriculum development, relevancy, and change.
  3. Articulate issues, trends and evidence-based research within the context of nursing education.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of the teaching/learning theories, skills and planning and implement a teaching plan in a nursing education, clinical or health care setting.
  5. Demonstrate competency in the application of measurement and evaluation in nursing


Admission Requirements

Post–Baccalaureate Nursing Education Certification

  1. BSN from a Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or National League for Nursing Accrediting commission (NLNAC) accredited nursing program.
  2. Current licensure as a registered nurse.
  3. A cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 2.7 or above.
  4. An Advising Interview with program chair/Faculty to complete the “Plan of Study” before enrolling in the first certificate course.

Post-BSN Certificate to Master of Science in Nursing Degree as Advanced Nurse Educator

Students who successfully complete a Post-BSN certification could continue toward a Master’s Degree as Advanced Nurse Educator (ANE) taking the extra 21 hours credit. Contact Program Chair.

Additional Information

The Certificate must be earned within three years of initial admission and all coursework must be completed in accordance with the published academic procedures of Winston-Salem State University and the School of Graduate Studies and Research.
