Birth – Kindergarten Minor

The program of study for the Birth-Kindergarten Education minor consists of a minimum of 21 semester hours. This program does not qualify the student for initial teacher licensure in North Carolina. Hours completed, however, may be used to satisfy requirements in an approved program. Consult your advisor.

Required courses for the minor to be taken in the following order:    

BKE 2321 Foundations in Early Childhood Education                                     

BKE 2323 Child Development I: Infant and Toddler Development                     

BKE 2325 Child Development II: Preschool/Kindergarten Development              

BKE 3331 Creative Environments for Young Children                                     

BKE 3344 Curriculum Planning for the Preschool Classroom                            

This new track represents an articulation agreement between Piedmont International University (PIU) and Winston-Salem State University (WSSU).  This articulation agreement will allow students from PIU to seamlessly transfer into the Elementary Education program.
