Therapeutic Recreation

  
  • TRC 4310 - Leisure Education

    Credits: 3 hrs
    This course focuses on the concepts and techniques of leisure education which foster an understanding of personal growth, development and lifestyle. Topics related to the role of leisure in society are addressed as well. Various methods of providing leisure education activities are examined.
    Pre-requisite(s): TRC 3323  
  
  • TRC 4350 - Internship in Recreation and Leisure Service

    Credits: 3, 6, or 9 hrs
    This culminating experience in the non-licensure Therapeutic Recreation (TR) degree track is a practicum of 120 (3 SH), 240 (6 SH), or 360 (9 SH) hours in the recreation or leisure field. Students obtain a practicum at a site approved by the academic instructor. There will be four class meetings for all students enrolled in the practicum for the semester; the rest of the course is spent under the supervision of the site staff. Regular reports including time logs and reflections on learning will be submitted. A midterm and final evaluation will be expected from the site supervisor. Students enroll in this course after completing most of the course work for the degree. One, two, or three other classes may be taken at the same time as the practicum, depending on the semester hours chosen. The practicum should be completed the last semester prior to graduation.
