What is the Catalog?
The Winston-Salem State University Undergraduate Catalog and Graduate Catalog are primarily intended for use by currently enrolled and prospective students, faculty, advisors, and staff. The Catalogs provide an overview of the University’s curriculum, academic programs and courses, facilities, and educational resources. They also include University academic policies, regulations, and procedures; information about degree and certificate programs, including degree requirements; a listing and description of courses; and a faculty directory.
Which Catalog Should I Use?
- The requirements specified in each Catalog apply to students who commence their studies at Winston-Salem State University during the academic year listed on the Catalog and who remain in continuous enrollment at the institution until they graduate
- If requirements are changed, students may elect to comply with the new requirements or to remain under the requirements by which they are governed at the time of the change
- The choice to apply the new requirements must be declared by students at least one semester prior to graduation through their academic departments
- STUDENTS UNSURE OF WHICH CATALOG TO USE SHOULD CONSULT WITH THEIR ADVISOR
How Often are the Catalogs Updated?
The Undergraduate Catalog and Graduate Catalog are published online annually in the Summer for the upcoming academic year. Although course offerings and academic requirements at Winston-Salem State University are continually under examination and revision, the Catalogs are updated only once per year. This annual revision procedure helps ensure that users of the Catalogs will not find unexpected changes during their academic planning processes.
