RED 6315 - Literacy, Diagnosis, and Remediation for Exceptional StudentsCredits: 3 hrs This course is designed to meet the needs of teachers working with students with special needs. An in-depth study of the causes of reading difficulties will be made. Both formal and informal instruments for diagnosis of these difficulties will be analyzed, evaluated, and administered. Emphasis will be placed on choosing, administering and interpretation/ planning using the diagnostic instruments. Tests that schools are required to administer in the regular classroom will be studied, administered and evaluated. Equipment, materials, and methods of remediation of reading difficulties will be highlighted and evaluated. Students will use assessment materials and plan for remediation of students through the WSSU Literacy Assessment Project.
