BIO 4468 - Molecular Biology IICredits: 4 hrs This course covers laboratory methodologies of recombinant DNA technology, the theoretical basis for the analysis of protein, RNA and recombinant DNA molecules, and interpretation of results. Recombinant DNA methods include gene cloning, polymerase chain reaction, chemical and electro-transformation procedures, immuno-detection of specific proteins, identification of specific messenger RNA by RT-PCR, specific DNA sequence by Southern blotting miniprep of plasmids, and DNA sequencing. (Two four-hour laboratory periods per week.) Prerequisite(s): BIO 4467.
