HIS 3309 - Black Revolutionary MovementsCredits: 3 This course introduces students to historical methodology by examining the role of Africans and their descendants in the Americas since the beginning of contact in the New World. This course charts a path from the San Miguel de Gualdape slave revolt in early 16th Century Spanish America to Nelson Mandela’s election as President of South Africa in 1994. This course explores the revolutionary ideas that Africans and their descendants in the New World formulated and utilized to secure their freedom and liberation. Prerequisite(s): Level ll writing class or equivalent
