BIO 1315 - Introduction to Biotechnology Credits: 3 hrs This course provides an introduction that is needed by students planning on pursuing graduate studies in biotechnology and biomedical research. Introduction to Molecular Biology and Biotechnology is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in biomedical research and biotechnology. The lecture course focuses on basic knowledge needed for success in the biotech industry laboratory by presenting a balanced coverage of molecular biology, historical developments and contemporary applications. Cutting-edge technologies and concepts in biotechnology will be discussed, as well as detailed information on agricultural, medical, forensic, and regulatory issues that impact the biotechnology industry. Pre-requisite(s): A grade of “C- ” or better in BIO 1301 Student Learning Outcome: Scientific Literacy Area of Knowledge: Natural Sciences
