GEO 2315 - Introduction to Geographic Information Systems Credits: 3 hrs In this course the student will be introduced to the concept of visualizing, exploring and analyzing data geographically. The student will obtain hands-on experience of display, analysis and presentation of mapping functions using the latest ArcView GIS software. The student will also be given an introduction to the fundamental concepts of geographical information science (geographic data acquisition, representation, analysis, and interpretation). Technologies reviewed include topographic mapping, global positioning systems, aerial photography, and satellite remote sensing.
