SOC 3315 - Medical Sociology Credits: 3 hrs This course uses the “sociological imagination” to explore health belief systems, the meaning of wellness, health, illness, disease and the role of health care delivery in modern society. Using an ecological perspective students consider issues ranging from competing and cross-cultural perceptions about health, where wellness ends and illness begins, to the sometimes wide gulf that separates the individual’s pursuit of quality of life from the structure of rationalized medicine. Pre-requisite(s): SOC 2301
