AAS 2305 - African Diaspora Studies Credits: 3 hrs Through a systematic study of African descendant communities created outside of the African continent, students will learn about African Diaspora Studies as a field of intellectual inquiry. First, by exploring key contributions from pioneers in the field from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds. Second, examining theories, concepts, and methodologies as it relates to the origins and evolution of the African Diaspora. Lastly, critically engage methodologies of Africana Studies to understand the continuities and discontinuities in the transmission of ideas that inform the African human experience.
