ALS 1301 - Intro to Applied Linguistics Credits: 3 hrs The course is an introduction to the study of applied linguistics. Students will be in the field (grammer, vocabulary, discourse analysis, not pragmatics) and will be familiarized with key issues in each of those areas. Special emphasis will be given to deciphering the nature of language (social, cultural, and cognitive) and the place of language study in society.
