CST 6314 - Big Data Analytics Credits: 3 hrs This course provides students with the basic knowledge of big data tools and techniques and lets them apply that knowledge in their areas of study. This course provides a broad and practical introduction to big data; data analysis techniques including databases, data mining, and machine learning; data analysis tools including spreadsheets, relational databases etc.; data visualization techniques; pitfalls in data collection and analysis; privacy, and other ethical issues. The focus will be on providing a basic understanding of the fundamentals of these tools and techniques with realistic applications in marketing, healthcare, engineering and web-based data.
