NUR 4511 - Maternal-Newborn Nursing Credits: 5 hrs This course focuses on the utilization of the nursing process in the care of the childbearing woman and family during the complete maternity cycle. Emphasis is on nursing roles, concepts and skills relative to the promotion and maintenance of health in the childbearing woman and family. Alterations in the childbearing process are considered. A planned clinical practicum will provide opportunities for the student to demonstrate the roles of caregiver, teacher/counselor, client advocate, leader-manager, and research consumer in selected health care settings.
