RED 3309 - Teaching Reading in Elementary School K-2 Credits: 3 hrs This course deals with methods and materials of teaching reading to students in grades K-2 with emphasis on the appropriate methods and materials for the individual student. A systematic study is made of factors influencing the development of reading ability such as readiness methods of teaching reading, process, and materials. The course also stresses the selection, development, and utilization of reading materials that are designed to enhance ability in early childhood especially children’s literature.
