SOC 3356 - Sociology of the Family Credits: 3 hrs This course employs a sociological perspective to examine the institution of family on micro and macro levels, including historical and international comparisons. Research findings are used to understand such aspects of the institution as diversity, gender roles, love, and changing patterns of relationships. Processes involved in the selection of a marriage partner, living as a couple, and parenting are explored, along with family crises, such as violence and divorce. Pre-requisite(s): SOC 2301 - Introduction to Sociology or SOC 2302 - Health & Society Banner Schedule: Fall
