EDU 5303 - Psychology of Teaching and Learning Credits: 3 hrs This course examines theories of teaching and learning as they relate to the social, affective, cognitive, and physical development of children. The course includes a review of child development and learning theories, with special consideration of issues of gender, culture, class, and ethnicity. These factors are analyzed within the psychological, social, and cultural contexts of the family, community, and school. The focus will be on the relationships between the developing child and the contexts in which he/she lives. The course also provides an introduction to the selection, planning, and evaluation of instructional strategies based on an awareness of their developmental and cultural appropriateness.
