BIO 3347 - Industrial Microbiology Credits: 3 hrs. The course will investigate the use of microorganisms for industrial applications. This course covers the study of microorganisms in natural and industrial environments, including specialized techniques for sampling, culture, isolation and identification. Students will study the application of fundamental principles of microbiology to industrial fermentations and processing, food manufacture and preservation and environmental quality. Periods Per week: (Three one-hour lecture periods per week) Pre-requisite(s): A grade of “C-” or better in BIO 2301 and either BIO 1315 or BIO 2302.
