CHE 1313 - General Chemistry I Credits: 3 hrs This course introduces students to the elementary principles of chemistry, including dimensional analysis, atomic structure and theory, the periodic table, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, chemical bonding, and molecular structure. Emphasis is placed on the development of critical thinking skills and problem-solving techniques. Periods Per week: Three one-hour lecture periods per week Pre-requisite(s): MAT 1311 - College Algebra with a grade of “C-” or better or math placement above College Algebra (MAT 1312 - Pre-Calculus I , MAT 1313 - Pre-Calculus II , MAT 1401 - Precalculus and Trigonometry , MAT 2317 - Calculus I )
Note: MAT 1323 - Topics in Contemporary Math , MAT 1325 - Principles of Math I , MAT 1326 - Principles of Math II , or MAT 2326 - Elementary Statistics are not suitable pre-requisites.
