NUR 4313 - Community Health Nursing

Credits: 3 hrs
This course provides practice experience for application of the nursing process and clinical nursing judgment measurement model to individuals, groups, families, and communities in diverse community and public health settings.  It addresses the complexity of nursing practice using a public health paradigm.  It requires learners to daw from prior class and clinical knowledge and skills and apply this practice base to individuals, families, groups, and communities across care settings, ages, and cultures with different experiences of equity and access to care.  Students will apply evidence-informed community and public health nursing concepts to improve health and reduce disparities in clients usng a client-centered framework.  Students will consider the science, policies, and resources that support public health, and community based and community oriented care.  Clinical and simulated epxperiences provide opportunities for clinical reasoning, clinical care, knowledge integration, and interprofessional collaboration with other health and social care professions
Pre-requisite(s): Completion of all junior-level courses, admisson to RN-BSN option or by special permission.
