NUR 4312 - Maternal-Newborn Nursing Credits: 3 hrs This course focuses on the utilization of the nursing process in the care of the childbearing women and their families during the complete maternity cycle. Emphasis is on nursing roles, nursing and interprofessional care, legal/ethical issues, cultural awareness, and concepts and skills relative to the promotion and maintence of health. Alterations in the childbearing process are examined. Students will gain knowledge of nursing care as it relates to prenatal care and education, fetal development, care of the pregnant woman (both uncomplicated and complicated pregancies), and care of the woman during labor and through delivery.
