POR 3312 - Cultures of the Portuguese-Speaking World Credits: 3 hrs This course studies the multicultural origins and contemporary trends of the Portuguese-speaking world: medieval origins and colonial expansion of Portugal; Lusophone Africa and Asia; the formation of modern nations and societies, with some emphasis on Brazil. Topics may include colonialism, race, ethnicity, economics, politics, geography, religion, gender, popular culture, and the arts.
This course will be taught in English or Portuguese.
