ALS 2310 - Englishes of the World Credits: 3 hrs This course will familiarize the students with the global spread of English and its linguistic, social and cultural implications for the world’s nations as well as for international communication. The course aims at examining and re-evaluating concepts such as native speaker, non-native speaker, linguistic ownership, language variety as well as the new meaning attached to them in the globalized era. The course will serve as a course that satisfies some of the WSSU’s general education requirement as well as an elective course for students majoring in elementary educationwith an academic concentration in TESL.
