BUA 6354 - Blockchain Fundamentals Credits: 3 hrs This course will introduce you to the exciting world of distributed ledger technology (i.e. the blockchain), cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ether as well as smart contracts. The emphasis is on the blockchain`s role in revolutionizing business. Basic knowledge of computer operation and the ability to browse the Internet are recommended. The students will explore the core features and functionality of a blockchain and what makes that functionality work. As the students understand the functionality that a blockchain provides and how that differs from existing workflows, they will understand how one can address deficiencies that might exist in those workflows and how a blockchain solution might be used to help fix these pain points. At the end of the course, the students will look at how using some of these basic technologies can help them build systems that provide functionality that they couldn’t do previously.
