The fields of Accounting and Management Information Systems provide the foundation for most business decisions.

Vision – To provide students with a high quality education in Accounting and Management Information Systems that will prepare them to serve in their professions.

Mission – To provide comprehensive Accounting and Management Information Systems programs that include the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for success in the global workplace.

Departmental Goals

Policies

The Department of Accounting and Management Information Systems accepts transfer credit based on articulation agreements from community colleges for the following courses only: Principles of Financial Accounting and Principles of Managerial Accounting. No credit will be accepted from a community college for any course listed at the 3000-level or higher in the Department of Accounting and Management Information Systems. Exceptions to this policy are based on articulation agreements between WSSU and specific community colleges.

The Department of Accounting and Management Information Systems generally will accept transfer credit from regionally accredited four-year institutions. However, specific course credit is evaluated on a case by case basis and may require the submission of an original course syllabus or catalog description. Students seeking to take courses at other institutions after enrollment at WSSU must seek prior approval for such credit to be applied to specific courses in the department.
