Course Requirements

The minor in French consists of a minimum of eighteen (18) semester hours above the elementary level. The intermediate level of the language is a prerequisite for all upper level courses leading to the minor. To satisfy the minor requirement in French, all required courses must be taken and completed with a grade of C- or better.

• FRE 1312 - Elementary French II Credits: 3 hrs
• FRE 2311 - Intermediate French I Credits: 3 hrs
• FRE 2312 - Intermediate French II Credits: 3 hrs
• FRE 3306 - French Grammar and Composition Credits: 3 hrs
• FRE 3312 - French Conversation and Pronunciation Credits: 3 hrs
• FRE 3320 - Business French Credits: 3 hrs

• Core Literature and Cultures Courses (6-3 hrs. selected from the list) 

• FRE 2301 - Introduction to the Cultures of the Francophone World Credits: 3 hrs
• FLS 2315 - Literature of the African Diaspora in the Americas Credits: 3 hrs
• FRE 3310 - Survey of French Literature Credits: 3 hrs

• or

• FRE 3324 - Twentieth Century French Prose Credits: 3 hrs

• Students enrolled in the minor in a world language may earn up to six (6) semester hours of the minor through study abroad. Curriculum adjustments will be made to accommodate the courses taken during the study abroad experience.
