World Languages and Cultures Minor

The minor consists of a minimum of 18 semester hours. This minor does not qualify the student for inital teacher licensure in North Carolina. Hours completed, however, may be used to satisfy requirements in an approved program. The 18 semester hours in the minor will be met with the following courses:
9 SH from taking three language courses from the Department of World Languages and Cultures (Chinese, French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swahili).

Course requirements
9 SH from taking three courses from the following list (taught in English): Minor Requirements
To satisfy the minor requirements, all required courses must be taken and completed with a grade of C- or better. - No more than 6 semester credit hours may be transferred toward the minor.
- The 9 credit hour of languages will be determined by the department.
- Students may take only one Independent Study course in concentration to complete the minor.
Other Requirements: Study Abroad Opportunities
With the approval of the department, and in conjunction with the Office of International Programs, students may also include up to six (6) semester hours of credit from study abroad programs that are equivalent to the courses above. |
