MCM 3340 - News Reporting and Writing

Credits: 3 hrs
This lecture course is designed to teach students who possess little or no practical journalism experience the basics of gathering, reporting and writing news, for print and online media. Course topics include: leads, news style, newsworthiness, inverted pyramid, interviewing; handling quotations and attributions; using social media or press releases; how to become discerning news consumers. Prerequisite(s): MCM 3308 or Instructor permission.
