ART 2306 - African-American ArtCredits: 3 hrs This lecture course deals with the African-American aesthetic and the indigenous arts and artifacts that establish an African- American art heritage. It begins by introducing the student to the treasures of Ancient Egyptian and African Art and continues through the evolution of African-Americans’ involvement in the visual arts in the United States from the period of slavery through the Harlem Renaissance, the depression years, and Civil Rights movements of the 1960s to the present. (Three hours per week.)
