BIO 1431 - General MicrobiologyCredits: 4 hrs This course acquaints the student with the fundamental principles governing the diversity, morphology, activities and significance of microorganisms such as bacteria, rickettsias, chlamydias, fungi, algae, protozoa, and viruses. In laboratory work, attention is given to the study, techniques and growth conditions of some of these microorganisms. (For nursing majors.) (3 one-hour lectures plus 1 two-hour laboratory period per week.) Prerequisite(s): BIO 1301 or a satisfactory score on the Biology placement test.
