PSY 2316 - Drugs, Addiction and Behavior Credits: 3 hrs This course develops information literacy skills as students learn to ask appropriate questions and to access information regarding the investigation of the psychobiological and psychosocial factors influencing psychoactive drug use, abuse and dependence. In addition, students will engage in practices to improve their ability to evaluate and organize information and to communicate that knowledge efficiently and ethically regarding the effects these drugs have on behavior and consciousness. Students will also examine how some drugs may enhance as well as harm health status. Alcohol and other depressants, opiates, stimulants, and hallucinogens among other abused drugs will be investigated by students. Pre-requisite(s): PSY 1301 is recommended.
