HIS 4318 - Rome and Early Christianity Credits: 3 This course details the relationship between the Roman Empire (and Roman culture) and the first 400 years of Christianity, including: the organization of the Empire; the religious and philosophical beliefs of the Romans (and other Mediterranean, Middle Eastern/West Asian, and African cultures) and Christians which led to their conflicts; the conflicts within early Christianity; and the compromises made which led to the late Christianizing Roman Empire and the Catholic and Orthodox Churches.
