CHE 4360 - Introduction to Biomaterials Credits: 3 hrs This course will cover the foundations of biomaterials science, including organic and inorganic building blocks and methods of assembly and degradation and will explore applications from drug delivery to implants to artificial organs to regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. No biomaterials course would be complete without also discussing diagnostics systems and future biomaterials. Finally, with such a new field, there will be an examination of bioethics, accessibility, and regulation of biomaterials and their derivatives. Pre-requisite(s): CHE 3322 - Instrumental Analysis , CHE 3346 - Biochemistry I or related courses and Instructor permission
