Functional anatomy is the study of how organ and organ systems work together to perform a particular function. Knowledge of functional anatomy as it relates to movement is critical to the design of effect exercise programs and injury prevention. This course will examine the structure and function of the musculoskeletal system and its role in movement with emphasis on 1) describing body movements (using appropriate terminology), 2) identifying articulations and boney landmarks of the skeleton, and 3) pinpointing the origins, insertions, and actions of major muscles contributing to movements.
