MUS 3165 - Applied Music

Credits: 1 hr
This course will provide instruction on any instrument/voice for music majors. Students will receive a one-on-one lesson with an instructor for one hour weekly. This course will focus on the development of the fundamentals of playing/singing and include literature, tone production, articulation, technique, etc. Literature appropriate to the students’ performance level will be assigned. Each level is progressive and determined by instructor based on student’s progress. In addition to attending weekly lessons, music majors are also expected to attend weekly rehearsals with piano accompanist, attend music seminars (as scheduled), perform in at least one seminar, and perform a jury before music faculty at the end of each semester. Applied Music courses at the 3000 and 4000 level are restricted to music majors who have been accepted into the Department of Music via successful audition.
