NUR 3211 - Mental Health Nursing Practicum

Credits: 2 hrs
This course is designed to assist students in developing the knowledge and skills necessary for nursing care management of clients with mental health needs in diverse healthcare settings according to current standards of nursing and interprofessional collaborative practice. Focus is on the application of the nursing process and the clinical judgement measurement model in the delivery of client and family-centered care. Clinical experiences are coordinated in a variety of settings which offer students the opportunity to engage with clients and interact with interprofessional teams. Throughout the clinical experiences, learners are provided the opportunity to maintain therapeutic communication/relationships with clients and their families while providing evidence-informed, compassionate, ethical, and culturally appropriate care. 
Pre-requisite(s): NUR 3115 -Clinical Nursing Foundations ,  NUR 3215 - Clinical Nursing Foundations Practicum NUR 3312 - Health Assessment ,  NUR 3316 - Pharmacology for Nurses , and Admission to upper nursing division
