CSC 1305 - Exploratory Data Analysis of Social Justice Issues Credits: 3 hrs This is an introductory course to data science and data science life cycle focusing on the exploratory data analysis (EDA) phase. Datasets used for the EDA will be drawn from social justice issues. This course will cover a number of topics including introduction to data science and its life cycle, introduction to data in general, quantitative and qualitative data, identifying the types of variables based on their values, missing data and how to address them, biases in data collection and training, data preprocessing, data inquiry, data visualization with no-code tools (for example, spreadsheets, CODAP, etc.), discovering data patterns and anomalies, composing stories through simple hypothesis testing and regression modeling, and writing reproducible reports.
