EXS 4305 - Neuromusclar Physiology

Credits: 3 hrs
The initiation and control of human movement depends on the interaction of the nervous and muscular organ systems. This course provides an in-depth examination of the anatomy and physiology of the human neuromuscular system. Students will learn the structure and function of the neuromuscular system through a combination of lectures and laboratory activities highlighting responses to exercise, aging, and pathology (i.e. injury and disease). Topics include but are not limited to: 1) Motor units and muscle action, 2) Sensory contributions to movement, 3) Spinal reflexes, 4) Influence of exercise and inactivity on the neuromuscular system, 5) Aging, and 6) Neuropathology. 
Pre-requisite(s): EXS 3321 - Exercise Physiology  (grade of C or better) and EXS 3311 - Functinal Anatomy  (grade of C or better)
